Backstage / IDP how-to guides#
Practical tasks for using SKAO’s Internal Developer Platform day to day. See the tutorial for signing in and creating your first project.
Find your team’s catalog entities#
Select Catalog in the left-hand navigation.
Filter by kind (
Group,User, orTemplate) to narrow the list.Open an entity to see its metadata and relationships — for example, a
Groupentity shows its members and the projects it owns.
Every entity in the catalog is sourced from GitLab, so the fastest way to find something is often to search by its GitLab group or project name.
Check who owns a project before changing its settings#
A GitLab project’s catalog entity names its owning Group, which is the same group chosen as the GitLab namespace when the project was created — see Backstage / IDP reference for how that mapping works. Open the entity to confirm who to ask before requesting a change to a project you do not maintain.
Browse core dumps#
The Core Dumps Browser is a plugin hosted on the IDP at idp.devx.skao.int/core-dumps. See Find a core dump for how to filter and download a dump, and the rest of the Core dumps documentation for analysing one.
